E-V-E-N-T-F-U-L

So you know how sometimes you have to step out of your routine...have your habits shaken up a bit...or even been at a point where you look at yourself in the mirror blink a few times and say to yourself..."Did that really happen?" Well to put it mildly I had one of those weeks. I started out the week working a 12 hour + day at work...just to wake the next morning with a VERY bad headache...then Wednesday it was office meetings and then off to a work conference at my regional office in Columbus, GA.

The conference went well and Angela and I arrived back on the island on Friday around 5pm. Karl took me out on a date night and then we geared up for our big day on Saturday. We started out at noon on Saturday and by six pm we had traveled all over Brunswick looking at houses. We narrowed our list down from 18 to 6 and we truly believe that we looked at our house on Saturday, but don't know exactly which one it is.....

On Sunday we went to Church and heard an awesome sermon about trying times and I left feeling refreshed....all in all it was a HUGE and FULL week...I hope the week of the 4th is much better.

Love you all!!!

When it Rains...It Pours...Burgess Family Week In Review

Hello Everyone:

This week was quite a trying week for the Burgess family. We started the week off feeling so confident...we even found our dream house and could see the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and well then our luck ran out.

Well on Tuesday, I took Karl's car to Tire's Plus in Brunswick (yes I am throwing their name out there because they suck) to get a routine oil change, brake check, and fuel line flush....well Karl came to see me and take me to lunch as he normally does at least once a week and he gave me the bad news. He was contacted by tires plus and told that he needed new tires and tons of other stuff and $1000 later I went to pick up his jeep. Well, as I was driving home, I noticed a very weird noise-one that the car was not making when we took the jeep in for servicing...to make a long story short Karl took the car back to Karl's plus just to find out that there was a $400 bigger problem....so as the story goes...this problem caused a large chunk of our saving being used up.

So that puts us two months back from starting the paperwork for our house....we still hope to be in a new house by December...our goal is to celebrate Christmas in our new home around the fireplace...I think it is possible, but we will have to see.

More to come soon....

It's All About Making Time

-So we have had an event full weekend...Karl and I pride ourselves on making time for each other....we have a date night as least once a week and then we make sure we spend a day entertaining our child/puppy Allie (pictured above). Well this week was my turn to plan our date night...I planned a somewhat cool night...took Karl out to eat and then we went to see Star Trek (a movie Karl has been wanting to see for awhile). It was pretty good.
The next day I had TROY UNIVERSITY graduation which went well...then Karl and I met Summer D for lunch at gnats landing on the island and then took Allie to see the Frisbee Dogs...she was not impressed...then we took her to beach and let her run around w/o a leash...it was her first time and she did well.
Today we went to lunch with Eric & Lauren Bluestein which was a treat. We are looking forward to tonight game five of the NBA finals...GO MAGIC!

House Hunting....Burgess Style

Karl and I are working toward taking the next step in our life as a family and that is in the form of buying our own house. We are looking to move off of Saint Simons Island and to the mainland, Brunswick. The two photos above are of two homes we are highly considering...both are in excellent school districts and our very affordable. We are looking to move in September of this year which is so exciting...then the next step is having a BABY...

Welcome

Hello Everyone! As some of you might know, I am in the process of ending the “Island Wedding Blog” and starting a “Burgess Family Blog” so that as we make the transition from planning a wedding to being a happily married couple our friends, family, and followers can make that same transition. This blog will include the latest updates on our life and our family and we hope you will find it to be an interesting read.

During my first post, I would like to describe the title of the blog and explain the meaning behind it. I chose the title- “Footprints of Life” because it had meaning. Karl and I try and take a walk on the beach everyday (work permitting) and some days we talk from the moment we leave the house until we return and then there are times when we walk that there are long moments of silence…well earlier this week when we were on one of our walks I took notice to the phrases, pictures, etc. that visitors of the beach had wrote in the sand….I thought to myself…”I bet they took a picture of that.” Just as beach photos reading “Summer 2009” or “Rex loves Hilary” become part of our memory and history they also become “Footprints”….so with that said…what better way to look at life but in footprints…not chapters or moments…but in footprints…ones you can trace back and that tell you a story about your life and about the people in it….so welcome to the footprints of our life.
